Middle School: Photographs by John Schott
By John Schott, James Woodward Strong Professor of the Liberal Arts, Cinema and Media Studies.
A collection of photographs from the exhibition at the Perlman Teaching Museum, September 16-November 16, 2011. Celebrating the Weitz Center for Creativity, former Northfield Middle School, opened in the fall of 2011.
From the author: "The camera has been called a memory machine, a time machine, a history machine. It makes a visual fragment of the past present, nearly palpable. It connects us. These images are a contribution to a public memory of the Middle School. Now that the building is re-imagined, claimed for a new future, they provide a visual connection with the past, one that celebrates continuity even as we proclaim transformation. The building remembers, and we should as well."
2011. Paperback. Carleton College.
